Tuesday, September 2, 2015, Marco and I sat down and went over his reading assignment.  He had to read an article or book of his choice and create a summary.  He was having great difficulty figuring out how to summarize his article.  He was trying to go through the article piece by piece and paraphrase each sentence. I had him close the book and asked him to not think about writing the summary for a minute and just explain the article to me.  He explained to me that the article was about soccer in Argentina and how it was first introduced and over time became an extremely popular sport.  When he had finished summing up the article for me, I told him to write down exactly what he had just told me about the article.  He was worried about the length of his summary being only a short paragraph.  I reassured him that because his article was rather brief, the length of his summary was perfectly appropriate.
