Tuesday, September 15th
On September 15th, I had my first conversation partner meeting. This meeting was with Sarah Alzuwaidi. I met Sarah at her home after our TEFL class. She has two children. She has a boy of 5 who just started Kindergarten and a baby girl of 8 months. Sarah and her husband Abdullah are both in Group 1 classes at CIES. She is from Saudi Arabia and has been in the country for 4 months. She is looking to pass the TOEFL to pursue her Masters in Biology. Sarah and I spoke about where I was from, what I had studied in college, and what I was planning to do with my future. We also discussed our favorite foods and we discovered that both Middle Eastern and Hispanic cultures have rice as their main dish with most meals. When I asked Sarah what sweets they have in Saudi Arabia, she offered me a date to try. It is a native fruit of desert climates and very sweet. She offered to make me an Arabic pastry for our next meeting. Sarah also told me she loves Netflix, like myself. I found out that her favorite series to watch are Breaking Bad and Prison Break.
