Grammar - Upper Intermediate
Leslie Wagner
This class was much different than the reading class because there is much more interaction with grammar than there is in a reading class. The agenda for the day was: Gerunds vs. infinitives, Warm up: Check pg. 20, and adjective clauses. The teacher introduced some examples of when to use gerunds and infinitives. She then put a list of about 20 gerunds/infinitives on the projector. She instructed students to break up with partners to create sentences using the gerunds/infinitives properly. She then called on individuals after the time she gave them expired. After this activity was completed, she moved onto adjective clauses. She used pictures that would be easy to describe and asked the students to describe them. She then broke up adjective clauses into defining and non-defining types. She used an example sentence to illustrate each. She ended class with a practice exercise on how to identify each type of adjective clause. I learned that students can sometimes be more capable than you expect, given their level.
