Tutee: Andy Moon
Date: September 18, 2015
Today was a difficult session with Andy. He is my child tutee and is 5 years old. He was very tired on this day and was having a hard time paying attention. We read 5 books and I worked on prediction and patterns with him, but he was very restless. You can tell that he did not want to be there and it was a bit frustrating. We made it through the hour, even though he was a bit reluctant to read and participate. Teaching children really tests your patience and it can be pretty hard. His father would leave and walk around the library, so Andy would be more rebellious when his father was not around. I try my best to be an authoritative figure, but there is only so much you an do when the child does not want to comply and he does not respond the way you want him to. I keep thinking to myself that he is just 5 years old, and kids just want to play sometimes. I don't blame him for his behavior at all, but it just makes my job harder.
