Yet another lesson in adaptability today. We were covering a
lesson on the heart and PJ was completely grossed out. I thought gross was “good”!
Don’t most little kids like a bit of gross science? This was not the case with
PJ. He was so distracted by the material that it was difficult for him to
concentrate. It was really bothering him. I did not want to over stress him so
after spending thirty minutes on the heart I switched to a lesson on skin
pigmentation, which was a much less invasive biology lesson. Biology is clearly
not PJ’s strong suit and definitely not something he feels comfortable learning
about. From now on I am going to try to find topics in the area of the sciences
that are less disturbing for him to learn about. He really likes earth sciences
and video games so I will try to create a lesson in one of those subjects for
next week.
