Ellen TS#10

Tutee: Do-jun Kim
Date/Time: Thursday 17 September 2015, 9:30-10:30 am

Do-jun and I covered past tense modal verbs. We specifically worked with the words “should have, must have, could have, would have, might have” and other similar terms. Before jumping into the new lesson I took a look back at our lesson from the third of September. I took about ten minutes on the review and then moved into the new material. I chose to do this because the lesson for today is connected to the lesson on modal verbs in the simple tense. I started the new lesson with a short video on Past Modals. After the video I asked Do-jun to recount anything he could remember from the video. This was a good way to check initial comprehension before examining each part of the new concept. I think this is a good general lesson plan. Video then comprehension check then explain topic with ongoing comprehension check. At the very least this works really well with adult learners.
