This was my third tutoring session with Aviv. We decided to repeat the exercise we had done last week in order to track his progress. The speedwriting topic I gave him this time was "What are your favorite musicians? Explain why you like them, and describe their music." The purpose of this topic was twofold; I wanted to learn more about Aviv and Israeli music, and I also wanted Aviv to practice expressing his opinions on paper. This time, Aviv was more confident during the planning section and required two minutes less than his last attempt. After writing for twenty minutes, we went over it line by line as we did the last time. We have managed to discover some patterns in his errors, namely issues with suffixes and vowels. We also had to go over the use of "their" and "there" several times, since this seemed like a pretty serious error that should be cleared up immediately. In the end, we spent over two hours together between writing and error correction.
