Date/Time: Sep. 14 / 01:00~01:50

Topic/Skill: Timed speaking/ Speaking

Teacher Presentation: The teacher was Vicky Golen. She asked students if anybody did not know how to fix their errors.  She presented timed speaking, which is TOEFL style speaking.  Before students started their practices, she showed an example by speaking. Whenever students came across new words, she checked whether her students knew them or not.  She had got a cold so she looked a little tired, but she did her best as a teacher.

Classroom Management: There were 4 female and 8 male students.  For discussion she reorganized the tables for a discussion activity.  I thought sitting around a big table was better than sitting apart from each other for speaking practice.

Materials: The textbook (The CIES group 2 speaking book)

Student Participation: They wrote the feedbacks from the teacher on their textbook paying attention to their beautiful mistakes. They wrote an outline first, and then talked with a neighbor about whether students should speak English at school for one minute by turns. After changing the positions of tables, they talked about what food they missed the most from their countries divided   into three small groups.

Feedback Provided: She walked around the classroom, she listened to students’ speeches and gave some advice.  She handed out her feedbacks about students’ presentations. She encouraged students to speak more fluently and said good points often.

Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: For a good speaking class, I should show an example for students to know how to speak properly.  It is important to improve fluency, so I have to repeat same speech a lot.
