I met with Khyrsi tonight at 8pm to follow up with her from last week. Khyrsi has been planning her return to Venezuela. She leaves in a week. Given this, it has been had to meet up with her. Anyhow, during our first meeting I had Khyrsi write an essay. I had her choose a prompt from the list of prompts included in my writing lesson plan, and Khyrsi choose to write about her dream job and her passion, both topics that I believe to be indicative of a person's goals in life. I edited her draft and returned it to her so she can re-write the essay. I then had her listen to a short video clip from History.com which talked about the history of the Fleur de lis. Basically, I had her take notes and then write a short dichtocomp. We then discussed the symbol. She explained to me that this symbol is very culturally rich and is found all over the world.
