On October first after
class, Matt and I had a very interesting
talk about the holidays in Israel and the U.S. We discussed the origin of the
holidays and then compared them. We noticed that most American holidays don’t have
religious roots compared to the Israeli holidays. I found that very interesting
mostly because in Israel we will not call it a holiday unless it has a
religious root! Our discussion lead us to talk about “yom kippur war” in 1973.
It is a very renowned war in Israel not because of the result of the war, but because
it was the day Israel was on the tip of extension. Every man and woman that
were able to help were recruited and the losses were high. We finished our
conversation by talking about the impact Holidays have on day to day life. It was
a very pleasant discussion and I’m looking forward to seeing him next week ^_^
