This tutoring session was incredibly productive and efficient in my opinion. Our breadth of topics was minimal but we covered a lot of vocabulary content. We covered 13 new vocabulary words, most of them he didn't know but has heard. By the end of the session, he was able to define every word and use most of them in a sentence in context. I went over these words with him by using them in sentences in context in multiple different sentences. I thought it was important to use the word in different types of sentences, so he could see how the word is used in multiple ways. For example, I used bold in the sense of increasing font thickness and bold as something that stands out. Both generally have the same original meaning but can be used in different ways. I thought it was essential that the multiple meanings of this word be learned. Overall, I think this tutoring session showed the most substantial gain in knowledge since grammatical and reading comprehension skill development happens very slowly and subtly. I was very pleased.
