Justin TS#9
On Thursday 10/15 I met with Yuma. It had been a while since I last saw Yuma so I couldn't build off the last time we tutored. I decided to prepare a preposition lesson plan since I knew that was something he wanted to work on. I began by going back over what exactly prepositions are. I explained to Yuma how we use prepositions to explain a relationship between words and how we use prepositional phrases. I explained to Yuma that these types of words are crucial to developing a solid foundation of English. I taught Yuma about prepositions of time and place and how different words are used in certain situations. We also went over prepositions of location and movement. As we went through the lesson Yuma asked a couple questions here and there but overall he knew what he was doing and why. Then I had a list of common prepositional phrases that used nouns, adjective and verbs. Yuma was able to read the through the list and ask for examples or clarify something he was confused about. I enjoy when Yuma and I go back in forth in trying to develop an understanding of a topic. Seeing the moment when he comprehends is what I strive for and it feels good that he appreciates me as a tutor. It feels weird that there are only two more sessions to do. I'm not sure what we will do next week but I think I might try and make a lesson plan about articles.
