Today, October 7th, at 2pm, I observed Ryan Flemming's class. This is actually the class that I will be teaching tomorrow, and considering that I am actually doing a listening lesson, I felt like this would be a good opportunity to see how he runs the class room. As a whole, the class was operated as a review of the vocabulary that the students learned over the course of the session. The first activity was a bingo activity, where each student got a piece of paper (created in the form of a Bingo board), and Ryan called out words. The class was split up into teams - the first person to call "BINGO" got first place. The second game was a word game where students would stand in front of a board with a word on it. It was up to the teammates to help the student get the right word, this was done by using context clues. Whichever team guessed the most words correctly won the game. The last game Jeopardy. This is kind of self-explanatory. Anyhow, Ryan did a great job at continually interacting with the students, and when some of the younger students continually acted up he continued to exhibit patience. By "acted up," I mean yelling out random words, speaking out of turn, being on their phone, etc. Overall, I really enjoyed observing this class, and I do feel that observing this class better helped me prepare my lecture for tomorrow.
