Topic/Skill: The team teaching with Hannah,
Korean movies and soap operas, teaching English in Korea / Speaking
Feedback provided to tutor, Hannah: She tried
to send me the video files of our teaching, but my portable storage did not
work. So she emailed me two clips, not the whole video. I brought the newspaper
article about the movie, ‘Veteran’, because she wanted to know good Korean
movies to watch. I asked her about
plagiarism, because my English book showed an example which was evidently
plagiarized, but I couldn’t distinguish it. She said to me that some words were
too difficult for the writer.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutor you learned: She showed me two
websites, gooddrama.net and dramafever.com where I can watch many Korean soap
operas on one website and Korean movies on the other with English subtitles. It
was fascinating to me, because I see Korean movies or soap operas learning
English at the same time. Speaking of
plagiarism, when I graded my students’ writings, I could see what were
plagiarized, but it’s hard for me to tell it in English. The more I learn
English, the more I find something to learn.
