Wednesday at 3:30pm, once elementary school let out, I got to meet my child tutee! I arrived at Books-a-million and her mother walked up to me, she then surprised me with 2 child tutee's instead of one. Hye Jeong and Hyein are sisters, one in 1st grade and the other in 2nd grade. Their mother, Seon, told me how long the girls had been speaking English and how long they've been in America. I asked her a few questions and she told me to concentrate on oral communication with them. She then walked around the bookstore while I discussed with the two girls. We had several conversations about many different topics; for example, favorite subjects in school, food, different games they know and what activities they enjoy. I also explained to them that I was in the same learning situation as them, only with learning French and i could see that it made their eyes light up! When I corrected their beautiful mistakes, they immediately retained the information. I'm excited about helping these two young girls along their way to becoming fluent!
