Ellen Boener TS#7

Tutee: Do-jun Kim
Date/Time: Thursday 3 September 2015, 9:30-10:30 am

I was nervous for my first tutoring session with Do-jun. I knew Do-jun and I were great conversation partners but I did not know whether or not I would be able to communicate with him as a tutor. My worries ended up being unfounded. The lesson went great! I felt very confident. One thing that really helped was that I created a rough lesson plan with a few different options. I was unsure how long it would take Do-jun to master the concept of modal verbs, specifically “must,” “have to,” and “should” so the original lesson also included an introduction to past modal verbs. I planned to teach both if there was time. Once the lesson started a realized Do-jun would need to take the whole hour to learn the first concept. So instead of rushing through the first half of the lesson, I bookmarked the second half of the lesson for the next week.
