The lesson today went much better than last Friday’s. I
started with a review of all the material I had covered with PJ in the past
three meetings. I was ecstatic with the amount he had remembered. This review
was a great way to catch a few concepts he was still unclear about. Whenever
possible I had him explain the concepts to me instead of just telling him the
same information over again. After the review I set him to work on the review
questions at the end of the unit. I let him ask questions if he ever got really
lost but I tried to guild him rather than give him the correct answers. 10
minutes from the end of the lesson we went back over his answers. I had him
read each question aloud and explain why he chose his answers. More often than
not he would catch his wrong answers the second time through his explanations.
This method helped me make sure he was getting the right answer for the right
reasons.
