Ellen Boener CO#3

Instructor: Felicia Ciappetta
Date/Time:  Thursday 23 July 2015, 1:00-1:50pm

The last class I observed was a level 1 English Speaking class. I was excited to see that the class was meeting in the computer lab. I had yet to see this level of technology use in the classroom. The students were taking a quiz with a program called SANKO. The instructor, Felicia, could monitor and communicate with all of the students simultaneously via her computer. The prompts for the exam were sent with a chat window. Felicia also sent the instructions for the quiz to the students within the same chat. She made sure to break the information into digestible segments and reinforce them with spoken explanations. This class reminded me of my time in AP Spanish in high-school. We used a similar program to record our conversation tests. Technology is very useful but you have to be careful not to move too fast. Students can easily get turned around in fast paced instructions. This class observation was a nice reminder of that for me.
