Hannah CO #2
Today I got to observe an Intermediate reading class with Candace Walters. She began the class by writing a beautiful mistake on the board. After giving the students some time to read through it, she worked with the students to identify the errors and correct them. After the bell ringer the students began to read Frindle. The instructor began by having the students summarize what they had previously read. After they completed their reviews, they began to listen as the teacher read through the next chapter. She would stop after every couple of paragraphs and check with the students to make sure they were comprehending what had been read. The Instructor would go over any difficult words such as detective, origins, encyclopedia, etc. After they read through a chapter, the class then began book work. The Instructor paired the students up into groups and had them read through an article. As the students were working, the teacher walked around class and helped students with any problems they may have had.
