Garret TS#3

Yesterday, September 9th, as I mentioned in my earlier blog post, I met with Aviv to help him prepare for the exam. Our first session was between 4 and 5, wherein we covered chapter 12. This second session, which occurred between 5pm and 6pm was used to cover chapter 10 on writing. I explained to him the importance of writing, not necessarily for the sake of literature, but more so for the sake of communication. I have noticed that many non-native English learners often are unable to understand particular words through speech, and therefore they may not understand what is being said. However, when I write out the word, it is very common that they are then able to recognize it and understand the idea or concept that I am trying to share with them. I often do that when I am trying to communicate with non-English speakers and it is surprisingly quite successful. I told him that he should use that if he finds himself at an ends with one of his tutees.
